Clown fish question

I’m trying to find out what might be the cause of Death to my Dotty blue fish. I came home from work the other day to find my Dotty blue fish was dead. He was completely healthy and happy in the morning. He was in the corner of the tank where my pair of clown fish reside. It’s always been their corner and I have seen them chase other fish out. Is it possible they would kill to protect their territory?
