Clown rapid breathing

Hello fellow reefers,

I’m honestly completely lost at this point and I’m hoping some of the more experienced reefers here can give me some insight.

I started this hobby in January. After cycling the tank, I added a pair of clownfish, but both died within two weeks. At first, I thought I might have made a mistake during the cycling process. However, after that I added a Royal Gramma, which died within three days. I then added another clownfish, and after two days I noticed that it was completely covered in spots and a cloudy film. It had Brooklynella.

The first couple of clowns likely introduced it into my tank.

I then did a fallow period of around 85 days to be absolutely sure the parasite was gone.

After those 85 days, I added an Azure Damsel, which did perfectly fine for five weeks. At that point I thought, “Okay, my tank is safe now,” and decided I could finally add a pair of clownfish again, since they are the fish I really want to keep.

The day before yesterday, I returned the damsel and picked up the clownfish. After just 24 hours, one of the clownfish died. It started swimming sideways after only about four hours, and after roughly three-quarters of a day it was darting around the tank while breathing extremely heavily.

A day later, I found the second clownfish breathing very heavy and still not eating. He is still alive but it is not looking good, I have attached a video

So now I’m wondering: has a parasite somehow gotten back into my tank again? I honestly don’t know what to think anymore, and I do not see the parasite spots on the fish and neither did I see the other one.

Could this still be some kind of parasite, or could there be another explanation for such a rapid decline? I’d really appreciate any advice or insight from more experienced reefers.

All of my clean up crew have no problem and are in here even before the fallow

I run a skimmer and my return is faced to the surface so oxygen should be no concern.

i SEE CLAMPED FINS AND SLIME SEPARATION SUGGESTING BROOKLYNELLA and suggest treating with Ruby Rally Pro which is safe for coral and inverts. Other signs will be lethargic behavior, loss of color and appetite and even hiding

Do you quarantine your fish?

You could've rid the tank via fallow period, then bought a fish that was already carrying brook.

I wonder if you are dealing with separate issues here?

This clown is breathing fast and is really thin. This means it wasn’t in good condition when you bought it.

I wonder if these issues all arise from poor quality fish from your dealer, as well as not quarantine them.
