I have two clowns. They got along really well for a few months but now the larger one is picking on the smaller one. Smaller one appears to submit by twitching. The larger one, however, twitches at the smaller one moreso lately.

Is this normal or should i separate them?

The twitching is normal and this is part of how clown establish the hierarchy and dominance. As long as you are not seeing pieces of the smaller clown missing, you should be ok...but monitor them. It is possible the bigger one just rejects the smaller one as the male.
