Last time was 2 days ago. I didn't really think anything of it because there were no marks or any signs of disease but today I noticed heavy breathingHi, do you have a picture of the clownfish? When was the last time he ate?
I just lost a clownfish that was healthy for a year beforehand. It was showing fluke symptoms, but i could not find flukes and it did not respond to Prazipro or CP, so it wasn't ich or velvet either. I think it might have been a nitrate spike that damaged its gills. The other fish from the tank are perfectly fine a month later. Clownfish are hit or miss when it comes to high nitrates, some don't even notice and others get irreversible gill damage. It wouldn't hurt to put it in a clean QT and treat it with Prazipro either way. Gill flukes are not always visible.Last time was 2 days ago. Maybe it was because of a nitrate spike? I had my nitrate go up to 100 like 2 months and a half before because I dosed nitrate because my results were faulty. Could be. Like I said. Mine was showing symptoms like this and I hadn't added anything to the tank in like 6 moths, so its the only thing i could think of. My nitrates only got to maybe 80ppm.I tried white light and it's no different from the other healthy not fast breathing eating well clown. And I see no markings either.

What do you mean by "dosed nitrate"? The only thing to do for high nitrates is a large water changeCould be. Like I said. Mine was showing symptoms like this and I hadn't added anything to the tank in like 6 moths, so its the only thing i could think of. My nitrates only got to maybe 80ppm.
Hmm... I don't have a qt. Any suggestions on what to do?Could be. Like I said. Mine was showing symptoms like this and I hadn't added anything to the tank in like 6 moths, so its the only thing i could think of. My nitrates only got to maybe 80ppm.
Because I thought my nitrates were 5 so I dosed nitrate. It was just a super low range and I didn't know. I was trying to get it to 10...What do you mean by "dosed nitrate"? The only thing to do for high nitrates is a large water change
Oh yeah it's a Reef tank. It was 2 and a half months agoHow recently? Is this a coral tank? I've never heard of dosing nitrates in a tank with fish. 5ppm is good. High nitrates are bad, low nitrates are not. I would do a large water change if you dosed nitrates. Don't ever dose nitrates to a tank with fish. This sort of thing is only for reef tanks that don't have fish and only if there are no readable nitrates. Even then few people do it.
Should I use a bucket? I don't have a qtIsolate and run prazi with increased oxygen maybe air stone
