Hello All, I am hurrying along to post this so apologies for any errors!
Problem : My male Clownfish has turned “dusty”, his fins are torn & he has stringy white poop. He & my female clownfish have been together for 2 weeks, while she has been picking with him a bit, it is not anything excessive & they are both fed Mysis.

Start of Symptoms : About 3 days ago I first noticed the build of mucus on just one of his sides immediately following a scrape of the glass, so I chalked it up to stress & the algae buildup being released into the water. He & the female were sent to me after purchasing a WYSIWYG pair, but they were an entirely different pair than the ones in the listing photo (check my thread history for more on that). I say that as I do not believe these 2 were ever truly paired before entering my tank. She does chase him a bit, but with each day she has weaned down the frequency & duration of her shows of dominance. He did have a small nipped part of his tail fin upon his arrival, but all the rest has either happened in the 2 weeks they’ve been together or the last 3 days.

Current Symptoms : His demeanor is unaffected by whatever is amiss & if I weren’t made visually aware of these issues, I wouldn’t think he was ill. He now has the cloudiness on both sides, primarily near the tail end of his body. His fins are pictured below but he has not been clamping them or showing any signs they’re injured.

Treatments Ready : I have Reef Rally Pro, Metroplex & a QT setup at the ready, I would just like a few of your opinions on dosing amounts/frequency before proceeding.

Tank Specifics: 15g tank, they are the only 2 fish, with some hammer, frogspawn, Xenia & Zoas. I have a Tiger Conch, 3 dwarf blue-legged hermits, 5 Astrea & 3 Trochus Snails. I added the Astrea 2 days before his symptoms first appeared, all inverts & corals are doing well with no indication of stress or disease.

I am testing parameters at the minute & will include below. Please let me know is this could well be Brook & if you have any recommendations.

I see several indicators to answer yes to this. The most significant sign is the amount of slime on its body which is noticeable on the fish. This mucus generally starts at the facial area as well as gills and spreads across the body producing lesions as it progresses often confused with ich and can turn into secondary bacteria. Other symptoms will be lethargic behavior, refusing to eat and heavy breathing from the mucus.

Start with a prolonged 60 minute bath of ruby rally pro then at a lower concentration in a quarantine tank. The longer the fish are exposed to the treatment, the more effective it will be at eliminating this issue.
Since a formalin solution is often not available for use, temporary relief can be achieved by giving the fish a FW bath or dip in water same temperature as display tank. Even though this treatment will not cure the disease, it can help to remove some of the parasites, as well as reduce the amount of mucus in the gills to assist with respiration problems.
Treatment is best done in a QT tank using either quick cure (more effective but now harder to find) or Ruby Rally Pro. Ruby takes a little longer and initial treatment generally takes 2-3 days to really start going to work.
With the advanced stage of this- I recommend immediate quarantine of all inhabitants and leaving display without fish for 4-6 weeks.
A quarantine system if you dont have one can be as easy as a second hand tank from a thrift store or as simple as a starter tank kit from Walmart which has most of the essentials

I agree this does look like Brooklynella. However, that disease is rarer in tank raised fish like these. However, if these fish were housed with wild caught fish before you received them, that could account for that.
The previous aggression looks moderately severe, hopefully it isn’t continuing.

The mucus feces is a separate issue.

I didn’t read the other thread, did you contact the vendor about these issues?

Thank you so much! I’ve seen your posts on other similar threads so I greatly appreciate & value your recommendations!
I do have a few questions:
1. Should I treat the DT separately while my clownfish are in my QT?
I’ve read some forums saying not to treat the DT as brook is only carried & spread by fish-to-fish contact while others say to treat the DT as following a 4-6 week quarantine, returning the fish to the DT reinfected them.
2. For a freshwater dip (using RODI water), how long should they be left in the FW; a few minutes or is it best to just dip them for a few seconds?

3. I was able to find Formalin & it is set to arrive is 2 days, does this look like it could work? :

If pure formalin, please take precautions with handling as it is vapor harmful as well as need to be used precisely, reason i recommend Ruby Rally which has a low level amount of formalin and very safe. Formalin last about a half year once open and dosage is 1ml per 12 gallons

While formalin can be used in-tank, I recommend separate tank with added aeration

5 minutes and you can use tap water the same temperature as display tank
