Co2 scrubber media amount.

Is there a rule to the amount of co2 media you need to use in the reactor?

I’ve made a small scrubber for the Tunze 9001, just wondering what size would be best? Think it’s probably 250ml…another question, If I were to oversize the scrubber say 500ml would that extend the life of the media so needing less changes?

Basically it depends on skimmer airdraw and the CO2 level in the room. No real guidelines but u want a container that gives you at least 2 weeks before you have to refill the media, or else it becomes a hassle. Yes a larger container will give you better performance.

I just set up my Co2 scrubber today. Searching forums I found your reply. I'm not understanding "you a container that gives you at keystone 2 weeks before" could you please explain?

Blame it on autocorrect !
You need a reactor or container large enough to give you at least 2 weeks before you have to change the media, no one wants to have to refill a reactor every few days.

Guess you need to figure out your consumption first, then size accordingly

I bought the largest that would fit in my cabinet. I haven’t changed it since August of last year, so I can’t complain.

PH bounces between 8.2-8.43. Valve opens up at 8.45 to let in non-scrubbed air.

I may have overestimated how much media I would be consuming. :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

What valve are you using ?

I spliced in a hydros drive cable so I’m able to open/close the valve.
