Question? I have my CO2 scrubber hose connected to my silencer, which is indeed connected to my venture. That way I can adjust the air and the skim. So I know the air is circulating through the canister but yet I have not seen any color change in the media. Does anybody have any idea why it shouldn’t be changing color I’ve had it on there for at least a month.

What is your pH like? I would focus on that vs color changing since some media don’t.

It’s hard to see from the pics but usually it goes from skimmer silencer -> CO2 canister -> skimmer cup.

What’s really important — make sure your skimmer will stop to prevent overflow and not suck all that media - total tank crash!!!

So here’s an interesting tidbit about the media. The average lifespan is approximately 2 to 3 weeks during that 2 to 3 week period It will turn purple, but if you’re not paying attention and you don’t notice it, it will also turn back to white, so I’m assuming that I was not paying attention to the color as much as I was to the higher pH and missed the fact that it had changed. That also kind of leads to why the pH dropped after it had gotten to a very acceptable level.

media can last months if you are scrubbing with a closed loop system- skimmer cup to scrubber and venturi to scrubber also (but make sure you are also using a collection cup or container between the skimmer lid and the scrubber) or like someone said, it could be catastrophic if it overflows. One way around that is to either install a float switch or sensor in your skin mate collection cup or buy a skimmer that has this feature built in. I skim extremely dry because my nutrients are pretty low right now so i haven’t hooked up my sensor.

I just purchased an attachment that fits in the inside of my skimmer cup that allows me to do that closed circuit with my CO2 scrubber. I purchased it from fishofhex.com and installed an Auto Aqua skimmer cup sensor which works great.
