Understood about the cold water. Sounds like a personal problem.
The Christmas Eve Mystery thud - True StoryAlert:
For a $50 GC: tell me a funny Christmas (time) story from your life. Chanukah or diwali or festivus or kwanza stories all count too... My personal favorite one wins, and there will be a crowd favorite prize too.
Entry ends January 6th.

We will have colossal colliders by the end of this one, that I can guarantee. But man that Pilate is everything I've ever wanted any of these grow outs to be.I think this one is going to be like the Poletti, there some really amazing pieces already. The growth that people are getting is really impressive.

The Christmas Eve Mystery thud - True Story
It was Christmas Eve some time in the late 70's. Our family always had a tradition of watching some prime time TV and eating a snack before my sister and I would get shipped to bed. We would often watch Jacques Cousteau but honestly can't recall the show we were watching that night. Mom, dad, my sister, and myself were sitting in the living room, the Christmas tree was lit, cookies and milk for Santa, and a carrot for Rudolph were on a table, everything ready. We even decorated the hamster cage, an aquarium with a lid...lol
Our dog Skipper (we always seemed to name things with a nautical theme since my dad always had a sailboat) I remember was getting in trouble because he was trying to eat Santa's cookies. After my dad yelled at the dog, my sister and I finished our snacks, brushed our teeth (during a commercial) and while finishing watching our show, we all heard a LOUD THUD!
My dad hopped up saying "WHAT THE H E L L!!", mom inquired "what was that?" Skipper came running from down the hall. My sister and I immediately grinned, looked at each other, thought and said "It's Santa!!!" in unison.
The TV got silenced, and after a few minutes or more of dad looking around trying to figure out where the sound came from, and convince us that it wasn't Santa, because my sister and I wouldn't shut up about it. He eventually let us out on the front porch to look on the roof. Completely saddened that it wasn't Santa, we were told to go to bed, or Santa definitely would not be coming!
So, my sister and I slowly, wearily, chugged our way down the hall to our bedrooms. Totally bummed we didn't see Santa and missed the end of our TV show. Before parting ways, we would always say good night to the hamster in the cage at the end of the hall between our bedrooms. My sister said "good night" and closed her door but I noticed that the hamster wasn't doing it's normal hamster activities.
I noticed the lid of the cage was propped up on one side, so being a kid and having an excuse to play with the hamster. I started to lift the lid, or fix it...lol (while getting yelled at by dad... "go the f*** to bed!") As I was reaching in and dad coming down the hall (Im sure to threaten no presents from Santa, for me not listening to get in bed) Skipper ran past him and dropped the hamsters head at my feet.
The mysterious thud was then solved.
Was the dog pulling his head out of the cage and lid slamming down...![]()
The year I found out about Santa - I was around 10 I guess. I was getting ready for bed and looking out the window next to my bed and seen a red blinking light- for a moment I was excited again. I thought “Rudolph” and then realized it was just a plane lol.
Still haven’t forgot that to this day.
Not sure how old i was, but young, maby 8 or 10. Parents hurried us off to bed. I layed there, fidgeting around, the excitement growing. It got later and later, and still I couldn't sleep. My sister's both probably asleep, they were the good ones, I was always a bit "mischievous". I snuck out of bed and quietly tip toed halfway down the stairs. I peeked over the stairwell and tried to spy santa. Instead I saw mom and dad franticly wrapping. Gifts strewn about. Paper and tape and ribbon. Santa was gone, but the excitement didn't fade. Although I always knew I never said. Thanks mom and dad for keeping the Christmas magic alive for so many years.
