I got a frag of these yellow polyps. They have now spread all over, how can I stop them? They look more brown then yellow...

I have tried laizering but no go, I tried using clamps to pinch them but they come back.

Will Aiptasia-X work to kill them? Or Joe's juice?

They are just spreading like crazy lol. I really don't like how they look..... They seem more invasive then GSP.

Example picture below:

I would start with kalk paste. Aptasia x might work too. There is a LFS by me that sells these, it's a shame what they're about to do to their customer's reef...

Thanks! I just ordered some kalk, it will be here tomorrow. I just paste it on? Or put it in a syringe?

Ya, I would never frag these and sell to people. It's worse then GSP. They seem to double in size every week. Its getting crazy. I have prob 1000 in sps frags, i would hate for these to grow over them. They are also finding ways into my zoa garden...

Im also going to get a flat dry rock and place over them hoping to block out light and they die then what everyones get past I will keep hitting them with the paste.

i have some of those by accident, the blue ridge coral i have next to them is choking them out and keeping them at bay. they will soon be eradicated from my tank!

now on to killing the pocillipora that did polyp bailout a few years ago.

I have the same issue with green palys. I think the only way to permanently get rid of them is to toss out the rock they live on before spreading across the entire tank. Palys can make you sick!

I haven't seen these for sale in my area in years. Talk about one of the worst plague type corals there is. I'm pretty sure I tossed the rock I had of them, not much else you can do.

Kalk paste in a syringe. Flow off and mix the kalk with ro water until it’s about a tooth paste consistency. Try to inject into the mouth area of the polyps. It works but takes some time and patience. Don’t do too much at once or you might risk an Alk swing. Leave the flow off for 10 to 15 minutes. I have the same polyps in my tank. I almost had them eradicated but then decided to let them take over a small area of a rock. Now I just “prune” them on occasion with kalk past to keep them in control.

My buddy owns Coral connection... I was there one day when a new reefer was picking out frags, he was asking about those poopers that were sitting side Frag tank... I told him don’t do it bro... worse thing ever to put in ur tank... owner got upset w me for killing a sale... I gave him 20 bucks to spare the poor dude... haha

Yea... I know how that goes. The only reason I can remove the rock my palys are on is because I just moved from a smaller tank to a larger. My rock was dismantled in the move.

I hope today I can make it to my LFS and get a flat piece of dry rock and just smother them.. I also will use some kalk paste on the outsiders.

I’m battling zoanthids too. Try out franks tanks F-Aptasia paste. Seems to work well. It sets up like plaster so it smothers the mothers

Happy Father’s Day !

I went out and bought some flat pieces of dry rock . I put the dry rock on top of the large yellow polyp pest, I will call it .

Over the past week you could tell some are really stretching to find a light . yesterday I mixed up a solution of kalk paste and it seems to be working . time will tell if they pop back .

How long do you think I should leave the rock on top to fully eradicate the yellow polyps . do they die in a few days or do you think it’ll take a few months for the tissue to actually dissolve and not come back ?

Thanks and here some pics. My tangs love a good photo shot.

I hate to be the bearer of bad but I’ll almost promise that the rock won’t kill them unless you keep nuking them with kalk. Those will still spread in complete darkness much like aiptasia will. Good luck and keep on them. Do not let them spread like I did. I had a single 1/8” polyp and now have easily 1000.
