Colorado sunburst help

I recently bought a Colorado Sunburst Nem, and placed it into the tank 4 days ago after drip acclimating for 2 hours. Does this look normal for a newly added nem? And should I be concerned? Tank parameter are as follows:

PH 8.1
Temp: 78.1
Nitrates 0.1
Phosphates 0.1
Alk: 8.1
Calcium: 415
Mag: 1430

Can we get a FTS? May be better to help. Also that seems like a long time to drip acclimate - did it have a heater?

It’s too early to worry as it could be adjusting to your tank just trying to help

Has it fully extended at all? Or just been curled up into a ball like that mostly? If it haven’t extended in the past 4 days since you put it in, I would be concerned.

I was told by a friend to drip acclimate for 2 hours, and no it didn’t have a heater but the room my tanks are in is kept around 78 degrees.

It was fully extended the day after it was introduced to the tank, and during the day it semi extends ( by that I mean I can see the mouth slightly) but it’s got itself back in a nook where it doesn’t get much light. I’m wondering if I should try and move it back somewhere where the lighting is better

I usually give BTAs up to two weeks to acclimate. They'll do all sorts of weird things in that time frame.

That said, I think your parameters are off a bit -- could it be a typo? Nitrate and phosphate should not be the same number.

Nope both tested at 0.1ppm

2 AI prime 16’s for lighting, this is an updated photo from this morning, I’ll post an FTS when I get home!

Do you see the slime around the anemone? That is it acclimating in a sense , a picture of the mouth would also help , it is looking better

I wouldn’t try touching it all. Nems are pretty smart, they know when they’re not getting light or flow and will move to it if they want it. Is it staying in that same spot and inflating to only that much? If it’s staying in that dark spot and only halfway inflating like that while pushing out a lot of mucus which I can see on the foot, I would be worried. If it’s not trying to seek more flow and light and it’s been in your tank for a few days now, that’s not a good sign.

Here’s my Colorado sunburst which has only been in my tank 1.5 weeks and my tank is barely 2 months old. After the first day or 2 it started moving and looking for more flow and light (it also stress splitted the first day) I also light this tank up with a ai prime (only blues spectrum)

Long time ago I bought an inferno and it did the same thing your csb is doing now, turned out it developed a bacterial infection. I fought the infection with cipro for months! End up could not saving the nem.

I would keep monitoring it for another couple days and see what it does. If it starts moving around and full inflating, you have nothing to worry about. If it keeps staying in that same spot and only halfway inflating, I’m gonna bet it developed a bacterial infection. Could be the water/params in your tank, who knows. But if you do a quick search on here about cipro dips and treatments, you can start seeing if you can treat it.

I had to QT the inferno nem in a 5g tank and do treatment and it was not fun at all, success is not garaunteed your nem will be healed but some people have done it with success. Me, not so much.

Do not move , last thing you want to do is increase stress. Let it be , maybe do some water changes in the mean time and monitor. If it stays like this for a week then it may be time for action.

The only way I lost anemones was due to bacterial infection/pumps , which is why I ask about your 2 hour acclimation , I personally take like 10-15 minutes to acclimate , maybe it’s wrong but I believe you want to get them in a good environment as fast as possible and not let them sit in “bad” water.

Bacterial infections are not the end, I used cipro on multiple anemones and they recovered. I did it in the main DT , not in a hospital tank as I think it would just increase stress further and I also did not have the room. I dosed cipro in this tank to help the anemones and also saved me from an instance of brown jelly.

Nothing alarming stands out to me , there are many immeasurable variables that could be adding to the anemones distress , potential metals in water, heater leaking how old is the tank? Nems should only be put in established systems of 12+ months
