Combining two great hobbies - Reefing & Photography

I can take a "so-so good picture" but having that natural talent to spot good composition, not so much. I struggle with it. So feel free to give some pointers or suggestions. Most of these have been posted elsewhere, but in here I want to check the photography skills.

Maybe blacken out the backgrounds on the coral shots to highlight the subject?
