Hello all! My name is Jeff and I'm a complete and utter noob at reef keeping and I've been obsessively lurking on R2R for a good chunk of my research. I don't even have a tank yet and I'm already obsessed with trying to learn as much as I can.

My plan is to get a Red Sea Reefer 170 by mid summer. I've been assembling pieces of the puzzle for a a while now and have to take it slow for money and vacation schedule. RODI set up and pukani on the way so I can start working out a reefscape. Next couple months will be LEDs, return pump and skimmer.

Eventually I'd love to have a mixed reef with the standard clowns, zoas, etc. but I do want to feature a mix of Caribbean/Atlantic corals and fish. A gorgonian and some ricordea would be a good start. Not sure about fish though....

Anyway, I look forward to posting some pics eventually when I actually have something up and running.

Cheers!

Welcome aboard, JHatfield!

A good place to start with West Atlantic fish is a royal gramma or three - brilliantly colored, and generally well-behaved. IIRC, cherub angelfish come from that region as well.
