I searched but of what I found were posted several years ago so not sure if things have changed. I've decided I'd like to get a conductivity meter but is there anything in my price range that would be dependable and not require frequent calibrations like a refractometer does? I use a TM hydrometer for mixing station but want something hand held that I can use for quick checks of my DTs. I have refractometers but my trust level of them is such that I feel the need to check calibration before each use. I've had two if the Hanna salinty testers but they always calibrated 0.002 low using Hanna calibration solution and would drift over time so I gave up on them. I'm not really looking to cheap out because I know that ussually doesn't end well but I also don't want to break the bank.

Have you looked into Apera devices? They have a good array of options.

Thanks. Actually I'm pretty much ignorant on the meters in general so I haven't looked at many at all yet, mostly because I'm not sure what features to even look for. I see the pinpoint at online retailers but figure there are other options not hobby specific. Not being familiar with the meters I'm trying to avoid buying something not suited for my intended use.

I had good experience with the Pinpoint.

I bought my VWR meter off ebay for $107. It's a good place for quality used meters, but make sure it has an electrode suitable for measurement in the 50 mS/cm range.

Orion or later, Thermo Orion, is a good name. This one looks very good to me with a good electrode.

Agreed.

VWR, in general, makes and sells quality items.

I agree with Randy. Look on Ebay. I just picked up a Thermo Scientific Orion Star A322 off Ebay for under $300.
