Hi everyone. My 15 gal waterbox tank is about a month old, cycled, inhabited by two juvenile clowns, a pistol shrimp, and a nassarius snail. Weekly 30% water changes, new filter floss every other day. I started to run phosguard after my phosphorus hit 1.2 (hanna checker). Two days later it was 0.9, so I figured the phosguard was starting to work. I rechecked last night (4 days after the 0.9 reading and after a 30% water change) and it was 1.7. I don't think I am over feeding, I do frequent water changes as stated, and all other parameters are in line. I increased the amount of phosguard I'm running (from 1 tablespoon to 2), but my question is, why is this phosphorus continuing to elevate so high? Anything else I can do to prevent these spikes?

What are you feeding and how often? Also what kind of rocks do you have? The down side of a smaller tank is the changes happen quicker.

I am feeding a mix of LFS reef frenzy and spirulina and Ocean Nutrition nano reef pellets. I have ceramic rock.

Doubt it’s leaching then. My guess would be the Reef Frenzy. Try cutting back a few days and retesting.

When to mix up fish meal: When was the last time you tried a different brand of food for your reef?
