never had a problem drilling them. it was always connecting the bulkheads that i had a problem. too much pressure and pop there goes another tank
once again i would keep it separate from the main system.
also if you really want to o this i would get several males and just 2 females and rotate them down the line. females can produce much quicker than males can hold the eggs so you have a period of stagnation with no production while trying to get the male to eat.
