I wish I could spend three months over there

I was "working" over there. I'm a contractor with the army. I just wish all the places I get to work were that nice!

He is trying to protect HIS lively hood by destroying OTHERS lively hood! He wants a total and complete ban of ornamental fish collecting in Hawaii! So that he is the only boat on the reefs

Yeah, I agree, but I was more curious on why we hear from him rather than other snorkel companies down there, instead of just him.

Because he realizes how much more money he would make from such a ban, his profits would sky rocket. Not only would the snorkel price go up but you would have to go to him

His boats and tourists do as much damage to the reefs and fishes as collection does! All he is doing is to protect his interest (business)!

That' why I don't understand his actions. I bet he just wants more exposure for his business in order to increase sales/income, greedy and coward. He's not even native to Hawaii and wants to control their natural resources.

There has been no decision that I know of yet, sounds like there is something like 8 bills going to congress on it.

i believe the reason people like this get heard in the first place is our own fault. i know i'll probably get hammered for my opinion but the pet industry has brought much of this on itself through poor collection, handleing, survivability and other issues. the biggest of which is invasive species being released by accident or purpose. if we clean up our own then people with this sort of attitude would have far less to stand on and far less people would listen
it is up to all of us to show that our hobby is sustanable, viable and doesn't deteriate the natural environment from which these organisms come or the environments to which we bring them into

Just got off the phone with Senator Dela Cruz's receptionist, Dot, who was kind enough to hear my words. She promised to pass along my message to the senator, and who knows, maybe I'll get a call back. She mentioned that there is much legislation going on at the moment. We want to convert home hobbyists, not get them ****** off in a name-calling exchange. We want to shame them gently. I think of the internet pedophiles lured into the kitchen where the MSNBC cameras are rolling so the world can see them-they hang their heads, knowing their appetite is so wicked. Aquarium keeping is similarly shameful, but the perpetrators must be treated with understanding and help toward rehabilitation.
