Did not know if I should put this here or in the Announcement section.

There is a bill going forward to ban all fishing in Hawaii for the aquarium trade.

SB580.DOC

If you choose to voice your displeasure you can contact this person;
Call the office of Senator Dela Cruz and say that you're opposed to SB580. The phone number is 808-586-6090.

Just wanted to bring this to everyone attention.
I am not opposed to a temporary/partial ban if it is needed for the environment to survive. I just think a permenenat ban is a little overboard.

If this post is needed to be removed, because of a UA violation so be it. And I apologize. But I wanted all to see this just for educational/knowledge purposes.

there is always attempted bans in hawaii. california is even worse its no big surprise in these states. and that bill says humane society all over it.

if they do it they will really be hurting and it will change.

oh yes and if their office tells you they only take calls from their district its B.S. and immediately contact washington about it.
no ban is temp. once you give it away you never get it back!

Les at Wet Pets Hawaii recently did a petition on this and I haven't heard anything on it since he submitted it.

We can than Snorkel Bob for this for sure!

Well I saw this and it was posted yesterday by Kevin of Aloha Corals. My first post is mostly a cut and paste from Kevins post that I found. I believe Les and him know each other.

Like I said in the original post.... I just wanted everyone to see it.
And if they felt like doing some looking into it for their own knowledge.
I just posted so people would have a choice to look into it or not.

Oh no, no more HI Flame Wrasses? I agree that they should fish with restrictions on amount of fish collected and such, but I don't agree to a complete ban.

I dont agrea with a complete bann either just restriction, Alsoi Wet pet hawaii had a potition asking reefers to sign to help him out i guess.

I've heard about so many bills trying to get passed in HI but never have. My thought is that regulated fishing should be allowed, granting that you are not hurting the environment from where they came from, and hindering the ability for the species to kept a steady and healthy population.
