Hey! I’m looking for some advice on a camera I’m looking at for taking photos of my aquarium. Wanted to see if this camera and lense are a good start to this.

I have a z7 ii and a 20-70 and 70-200 2.8
I’ll still use an orange filter from time to time but it does a decent job, also look into a macro lens.

Are you planning on selling these photos professionally, or just use them for social media?

Honestly, for socials a recent phone camera does a great job if you add a color correction filter.

I’m just planning on using for social media or personal. I currently use my iPhone and an orange filter and it sucks lol kinda wanted to get more into actually showing my tank if that make sense

Let me put it another way.

I wouldn't buy a camera simply for taking fish tank photos.
If you're keen on photography and plan on using it as your general camera then go for it.

Without taking the time to learn how to use the camera, you will probably get better results from a phone camera as they are designed to take good shots with no technical knowledge required.

How come sometimes u still need to use an orange filter?
The orange filter is called a CTO filter. It is used to adjust White Balance.

If you have a camera which allows you to adjust white balance, simply set the White Balance to about 10,000K and then you will not need to use the orange filter.
