Currently in my tank I have a Jebao pump, an ice cap and an ai Nero. Quite frankly I’m not super happy with my current flow situation and am considering some different options. The wave engine has come to mind but I’m not sure if it’s comparable with the three pumps I have, I’ve also considered going wave engine with two Gyres. Tank is a 4’ waterbox SPS tank. Thoughts and opinions on running this setup?

Ask CoralVue, they can let you know if your wavemakers are compatible. Likely will need different adapter cables for them.

Ice cap gyres are the only compatible pump you have. To see all pumps compatible look here: https://www.coralvuehydros.com/is-my-pump-compatible/

wave engine and a new set of icecap gyres would be a fine Christmas present to yourself IMO! I love mine. (then next Christmas you'll want the hydros to go with that lol)

That’s another thing I’m wondering about I know a lot of this automation stuff is more or less designed to work as a system. The wave engine is totally capable stand alone? I do think I want to try out two Gyres on the tank on blowing towards the front glass

Yes the wave engine is a stand alone, I ran the wave engine for almost 2 years before I got my hydros.

All of the Hydros controllers can be used stand alone or they can be used together in a collective. In a collective they share all inputs and output over the command bus with the other controllers in the collective. So you can use inputs or outputs from other controllers in the collective to control an output. The collective acts like one large controller with the sum of all inputs and outputs of the member controllers. My large collective has 15 controllers in it.

That’s quite the collection you got there. I looked through your build thread, your super into the controllers I see

Is it solely getting ride of two power bricks and controllers or does it improve the pumps as a whole. I’m assuming you can control the pump 0-100% in any mode and or anything in between, say minimum speed 30% and max 100% in a pulse mode? I’m leaning towards the LE version with just two power heads. I have one of the Icecaps that mimic the mp40 which I believe can be controlled by the WE. Trying to decide if picking up a WE with a pulse 4 and adding the icecap with that or switching to gyres altogether

The programmability with the WaveEngine is as good or better than most any controller/app I've ever used (Mobius, myAI, even Jebao, etc). There are a TON of preset pattern options which are all customizable, and each (supported) pump's capabilities are preloaded (i.e. 25-100%, forward/reverse, etc) and tweakable.

If the Icecap pump you're talking about is the FP series, they are STILL not supported. Coralvue said at their release (A YEAR AGO) that they would be, but still no adapter cables or app support. They still say it's coming, but I stopped holding my breath a long time ago.

Yes I have the FP-200. That’s a bummer it’s not supported as I do like the pump…. Guess that pushes me towards the gyres
