If they are ocellaris or percula, the BTA is not a natural host for them.

Need to know what type of clowns they are for best guidance, if you know. If they go in the BTA already and touch the tentacles, they will probably let it host them if you remove the carpet.

Welcome to R2R BTW

I had clowns hosting a torch coral. I moved the coral in hopes of them hosting the nem. They didn’t care. Just because they sometimes go to the BTA doesn’t mean they’ll make it their home. Clownfish..... always gave me more problems than anything

It’s a 50/50. Then nem will host the pair or it won’t

So no one else has done this ?
I have - and would say "probably". My perculas had a gigantea years ago, which didn't make it. For 6 months or so they hosted a green tongan BTA and a rose BTA. Took a few days before they went to the BTAs but it happened. Now they are back in a carpet - just be patient, I would say most percs will take a BTA. If they won't, try a different kind of BTA (color morph). I've always guessed they have slightly different smells from locale to locale. One is bound to smell close enough. Hope this helps.
