Yes. Around .06-.08 is "better" but a bit high is way better than too low.

If its reading 48ppb that would be .048ppm

Which checker are you using? The ULR gives its answer in ppm

I am using the Hannah phosphorus URL parts per billion checker

Multiply by 3.066 and then divide by 1000. You are on it. You did it right.

BTW - this is not likely your real total phosphorous number... only what the this test kit can detect with is still orthophosphate and not all types of phosphorous. There are test kits that can get you total phosphorous, but they are expensive. Hach has one.

Hard corals are supposed to grow faster with lower levels of phosphate but many reefers run levels similar +/- to what you have with excellent results. Other nutrients and coral feeding & light also impact results but your tank looks ok as nothing is dying and there appears to be little algae or other problems that would make me want to change somethings here.

Stay the course and see how it progresses over the next few months before you start meddling with numbers.

Extra pics confirm my reply above. Tank looks fine. I would check PAR levels if I recommended any other route of changes. Nice tank!

IMO, that level is plenty acceptable for a mixed reef tank. There are many, many corals that will not mind a .147 po4 level - there are some that will, so if you want some of those then you might have to change up but the coral might not be worth the effort.

I would not let the po4 level get much higher, but others will disagree.
