Copepod help

Hi, so I’ve had my tank set up for a couple months. I added fish a while ago, and everything has been running pretty good. I only have three fish as of now, no coral or CUC. I also don’t have a light yet. However I was thinking of getting some copepods. I’ve done a bit of research but I have a couple questions. Which should I get? And does algae bark supply quality copepods?

Our recommendation for a new tank would be our Blended Pod Buffet which has Tigriopus, Tisbe and Apocyclops. These along with our Harpa which can be added by getting the Majectic Pod Buffet (it is a double so only have to by 1/2 the size. As these can come in and establish colonies as mentioned above.
Our other three species are targeted at cruiser fish so may want to add them later if wrasses etc are on your stocking list.

We recommend in our standard density
8 Oz for nano up to 20 gallons
16 Oz up to 40
32 Oz up to 75
1/2 gallon up to 150
1 gallon up to 259-300
If you go with a double or extreme you can get the next size down, or really slam that tank and jump start the colonies.

I have gotten pods of varying types from both Reef By Steele as well as Algae Barn. Both are good, but I will say that I think you get a bit more from Reef By Steele, as well on the phytoplankton.

Reef By Steele or Dinkins are the only places I'll get copepods or phyto from. Kind of just depends on what current sales are going.

Thanks, this was super helpful, I have a 20g AIO, and I only have a pair of clowns and an orchid Dottyback, and was not planning on adding more.

8 Oz blended or 8 Oz majestic and dose 20 ml of Phyto buffet or 10 of the extreme per day. 32 Oz Regular or 16 Oz extreme will last 47 days. Refrigerate, shake daily before dosing the Phyto. Add the pods at least an hour after lights out so they can settle in without creating a feeding frenzy.

Blended pods are at our standard density which is nice and dense, the Majestic of the same size is made with 2x the density of pods for example a 32 Oz Majestic has basically the same amount of the three pods as the 32 blended regular in 16 Oz of the bottle and then topped off with 16 Oz of our double density Harpa pods (Tisbe cousins only smaller) so you get roughly the same number of pods you would get in a 1/2 gallon regular but 50% are the Harpa. So twice the pods in same size bottle and 4 species vs 3 and we add rotifers to the majestic.

Sorry to keep asking questions, but since you add the rotifers to the majestic bottle, do you dose the phyto any differently?

Kent, not to hijack anything, but how do these ship in the heat? I'm setting up a new nano, and it's HOT here in TX. I want to pull the trigger on a small Majestic and some Phyto Buffet, but not sure how it will do in the 100+ degree temps? Thanks

No. They will eat nuisance algae, bacteria etc in a reef tank as well.

You might be in a 2 day ground zone and if so we have really high success rates. If not I can reach out as the difference between ground and 2 day isn’t as expensive as other areas so I can figure it and just bill the difference.
