Hello, I have a saltwater aquarium 100 gallons with rock, sand, snails and fish. Question, should I dose and maintain copper levels in the display tank?
my LFS says if you just have fish and rock keep a therapeutic copper level so that it prevents diseases to the fish. Thoughts appreciated.

Don't use that store anymore. Copper should never be added to the display tank. It leeches into the rocks and sand. Over time it can reach toxic levels for snails and coral.

Are you near springfield? Or chicago...?

Because if you are in springfield I know exactly who you are talking about. Never listen to that guy.
But if you're in chicago. Never go to that place for advice.

Copper should never be in a tank with live rocks. It can cause a serious probably with an overdose and kill your fish.

That is absolutely terrible advice it'll kill any inverts and eventually the fish they cant be constantly medicated. Guess they needed to sell more copper power by the sounds of it.

Some stores medicate their tanks so that customers don't see that fish have issues until after the return date expires.
