Copper in my pump??!!

I've been using this Fluval 407 for a few months now but just came across this....should I take it down asap???

I would believe that's all encased and sealed from the water. Otherwise it would corrode.

Thanks. Do most pumps use copper coil? I would assume if there is a leak in the encasement, it would kill all inverts....

All pumps use a "coil" of copper windings and magnets to produce motion. In our water pumps, these coils are encased in plastic to prevent corrosion.

copper and magnets is how ALL electric pumps/motors work.... all of them.... submersible pumps the copper windings are encased in epoxy to help prevent corrosion... can they still corrode.. yes.... will magnets still rust... yes... what can you do? replace when corrodes..
