I have a 120g with a 30g sump. I'm moving some fish from a 10g QT that was treated with copper, followed by carbon. One Royal Gramma is very insistent on hiding inside of a small conch shell (I know, the one thing that wasn't PVC) that was in the QT, then submerged in a freshwater dip, rinsed in tank water, and acclimated to my DT. I kept hoping he'd leave the shell long enough for me to get it out, but no luck. Given the use of carbon, and the repeated rinses, and the dilution with the size of my system, can I get away with putting the shell into my DT, Gramma and all? Otherwise, any pro tips on encouraging a shy fish to leave a safe and cozy conch?
