So I did my first half dose of copper safe in my 10 gallon hospital tank to get rid of velet. Waited 2 days and applied second half of the dose . As per instructions . When I go to test with api copper test kit it barely registers any copper at all on test . How long should it take to disperse completely in tank to start registering on test . ? The fish are doing a lot better btw
I am running 2 small hob aqueon 10 filters with no carbon . Just filter floss .

Please help

Mike

Any rock or sand in the QT which might be absorbing the copper? How many teaspoons (or ml) have you dosed in total thus far?

No rock or sand . Bare bottom only 2 pvc elbows . I dosed 4 ml copper safe and then 36 hours later dosed 6.5ml copper safe . (Barely registering anything on Api test) I am headed into lfs to get a copper test from them to see if they get different reading .
Would filter floss or pvc elbows aboard it ? I don't want to dose more to hurt fish . Thoughts ?
Thank you in advance humble fish

2 1/2 teaspoons (or 12.5 ml) of Coppersafe should be enough to get you pretty close to 2.0 ppm in a 10 gal QT. The PVC elbows won't absorb it and any absorption from the filter floss should be minimal, unless it contains something that removes copper (like a carbon pad).

I would say either the Coppersafe or API test kit you are using is defective. Check the expiration dates.

Feel free to make this a sticky on what not to do.
