Calling all Copperband owners! Have you ever fed your Copperband Cheetos? This also applies to other butterfly's and Moorish Idols.
Backstory is a Member on another Forum has a new Copperband that would only eat sponge. He was running out of sponges and was looking for a source with no luck. I remember reading an article on Moorish Idols authored by Kent Glover where he observed Moorish Idols eating Cheetos (I believe in Hawaii). I suggested this approach for his Copperband after watching my 7 month old Moorish Idol go to town on a Cheeto. He was very surprised this actually worked and said his Copperband loved them. It's probably Junk Food for fish because I doubt they are very Nutritious but could get a difficult fish going. Has anyone ever tried this or be willing to try it? Copperbands seem to have such a high failure rate another feeding option might help.

NO. I read about this recently on another forum and TBH thought it sounded silly. Maybe it works but I won't be trying it. I filed the info in the silly bin along with peeing in a tank to add urea lol. I don't even think cheetos are healthy for humans to eat.

When I returned to Reefing after a hiatus, I was puzzled with the concept of Vodka Dosing and why add it to a Saltwater Tank. Take a look at the ingredients of a typical Pellet Fish. Some contain Wheat Flour, Corn Starch, Potato Starch, etc. clearly not found in the ocean.

I do my best to stay away from processed food that contain grains but i don't use auto feeders. Even my dogs don't eat that processed garbage and get 100% raw meat with bones and organs. I think many of our health issues are caused by eating foods our bodies can't properly digest. I like to make my own frozen fish food but that's tough living in the midwest with no good seafood stores.
I can get good stuff to make dog food tho.
