So I am curious which is more thrilling to everyone, live sales or auctions? I know everyone has their favorite vendors that they like to buy from for whatever reason. Before I started down this role of being a vendor, I had my favorite guy as well. He has auctions every weekend starting at $1 no matter if it is a common zoa or a Rasta Torch. I ain't going to lie, I like the thrill of waiting to the very last second to bid to try and get a coral for the lowest price.

So that brings me to the live sales. It seems like probably about thr same kind of thrill, but the vendor has already set the price and you have to be the first to check out. Kind of like being the last person to bid the highest in an auction. The only main difference is that you have no idea when a coral is going to be posted until it is posted. This ties you down to your computer, phone, or tablet for mist of the day. I know some vendors post in the hour, some do every ten minutes, or even every two minutes.

I did a little digging on r2r and it doesn't seem like this is right platform to conduct auctions lol. The only vendor that I have seen post about auctions is Chaos Aquaculture. Just curious what everyone thinks lol.

I find that I end up buying more corals via Live Sales than Auctions. I also enjoy the time spend during Live Sales chatting with other members about all sorts of random things.
So while I think there is certainly an audience for auction events, I personally think Live Sales mesh better with the nature of the R2R forums.

(WWC also does auctions, btw; using EBay, not here on R2R.)

That is a very good point, it is fun talking with other members lol. I did forget about the WWC ebay auctions lol. I rarely get on ebay.

Hate live sales. I much prefer auctions. I have better things to do than spend hours waiting for an item to come up on a live sale and then hope I’m fast enough to buy it. At least with an auction I am guaranteed to be able to buy it if I really want it.

I always enjoyed the buy it now option as well with auctions.

I prefer “Buy It now” as well but I use a sniping service on standard auctions that pretty much makes it a guarantee that you win every auction you bid on as long as you set your max bid high enough of course. Pretty much with an auction if I want a coral I’m going to get it. Live sales are just frustrating to me because even if you’re willing to pay up for something you usually still don’t end up with it and just waste a bunch of time.

I prefer auction too. I tried to do the cherry corals live sale this last weekend, and I didn’t get a single coral because my checkout speed was never fast enough. And sitting all day waiting to see what’s coming with a mere millisecond to click and checkout on only one of the available corals they post is brutal. Won’t do that again. Similar lesson I learned trying to buy a laptop on Black Friday one year.

I prefer auctions as well. I don't have a Facebook or any social media, and it seems like the majority of the live sales are generally on those. Man do I hate proxy bids though...

I Like some live sales, for example tidal gardens LS are fun to watch and I always learn something. It’s also fun listening to Than complain about his Plummer’s. Always enjoyable and I usually buy something. I don’t really like the photo dump live sales.

LOL I just like to buy corals...auction...live sale...I'm good with either

I spend more money during live sales(wwc). I am happier with my purchases more from auctions, poto. This is not a vendor vs. another vendor post though. I like both vendors corals. I can take my time on auctions and bid on those i really want. Sometimes during a live sale i get caught up, “oh i should see if i get that too”

I like auction. Old school I guess you could say.

I do love the thrill of an auction. That is until I get to check out and have to add on shipping cost. I usually have buyers remorse at that point :(
