About a three months ago I bought a coral box cloud 9 skimmer and hooked it up to my 150 gallon newly established mixed reef tank. Its sitting in 11 inches of water in my 40 gallon sump.the skimmer is rated for ranks between 200 and 400 gallons according to the manufacturers site. I’ve been having a difficult time getting it to skim. I can’t seem to get it to produce that thick foam. The bubbles it produces are very much like a boiling pot of water - unstable and sporadic. Does anybody have any advice or experience with this particular skimmer?

I had a 300 in my nano and it worked well but was finicky when it was cleaned and needed a few days to settle in.
If your tanks new it may not have enough organics to skim.
You may have to raise it up on a stand to get it to skim right.
I had mine on a stack of egg crate. Then adjust the gate and controller.
Their are a few youtubes on it.

Thanks. I’ll give that a try.

Just checked out the specs. Says 6-12" water depth. My guess is closer to 6 will solve your issue. Mine, although different model was at 6".
Its sitting idle but here is how I had it setup.
Ran for 2.5 years with no issues.

Thanks. I guess I’m going to have to give it a try

I have one never had a problem it’s on a 180 with 60 gallon sump

How many inches of water is it sitting in?
