I am in the market for a cheap skimmer. Due to where my tank is located, it needs to quiet.
I was going to get one of the commonly recommended brands like reef octopus, but it seems like their low end models are commonly called "loud" by their owners.
This led me to looking for a cheap DC skimmer, rather than a cheap AC skimmer.
I did also look at the bubble magus curve eliet models. they have the sicce ac pumps. Not sure on how load they are though.
Has anyone had any experience with either the Simplicity or Coralbox brands of skimmers? or any other recommendations?

I have a simplicity dc120. It can be loud, sometimes. Makes a rattling noise like the impeller rubbing on something. Produces tons of microbubbles that I can't seem to stop, they make it to the display. Produces some stinky skimmate though.

I've had Simplicity 240 dc for almost two years now on my 150 gal reef tank. It works very well and is quiet. I put some coarse filter floss around input to keep chaeto fragments out.
