Hi everyone,
I am anticipating my first shipment of coral for my new tank from Top shelf Aquatics this week. I have been reading a lot of dips for the corals and realize that opinions are wide and often targeted towards specific pests. I am new to all of this just wanted to make sure my plan was reasonable before the box shows up at my door! Corals are a mix of LPS (hammer, candy cane, favia, acan and blasto) and a SPS (acro, monti and birdnest) and I wanted to ideally target one dip plan for all of them.
1) Dip in KCl 2 tablespoons mixed in one gallon of tank water for 10mins --> this seems to be a gentle and highly recommended dip for pests in general
2) Rinse in tank water
3) Dip in hydrogen peroxide 20-40ml/ 1/4 gallon tank water for 5 mins --> This is the very low end concentration for H2O2 I found in another post. This dip seems good for pests algae?
4) Rinse in tank water
Is this a reasonable approach?? Do I need to take the coral off of the frag plugs? I don't necessarily anticipate that corals from a aquaculture seller like top shelf would have the same pest burden as wild corals but figured I should do something just to make sure.
Thanks for any advice!
