Coral dipping?

when you guys and gals get new coral in what solution do you use to dip the coral to get ride of parasites and what’s your procedure?

Coral dipping is generally done with Bayer Insecticide mixed with saltwater. I generally do 10ML of bayer to 4OZ of saltwater per this thread https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/bayer-insecticide-as-a-coral-dip.100496/

I'm new in the game, so not much experience, but I've dipped my corals in Bayer with no issue. I've only dipped a hammer and several zoas and they are all fine. 10% Bayer dip for 10-15 minutes, then rinse in two different clean saltwater buckets for about 5-10 minutes each.

Here's what I do:

1. Carefully inspect the frag/plug for nasty buggers/eggs. If need be, I use a magnifying lense or jeweler's loop to get a close look.

2. Remove the frag from the plug, unless the plug is plastic. This is done because plugs absorb dip, and it's not readily rinsed off, slowly releasing into your tank.

3. Put the frag into a dip of your choice....Revive, CoralRX, Bayer, etc. Use your tank water to dilute the dip.

4. Swish around or use a turkey baster to agitate the solution around the frag.......I usually do this 15-20 minutes.

5. Rinse the frag....this is extremely important so that you don't get dip into your DT. In a separate cup take a bit more tank water and swish the frag...5-10 minutes. Disregard this water, and repeat rinse.

6. In an ideal world I then tell you to remount this frag on a new plug and put into QT to observe. (If you promise not to tell anyone, I skip this QT part. :eek: )
