I have a torch coral that looks to be splitting into 2 heads. The one sides white tissue however looks to have much less then the other. Idk if it’s normal or not as I am new to coral keeping. I just fed the coral so the “tentacles aren’t as long” but they seem to fully extend normally. The one to the right in the image that’s closer to the wave maker is the one I’m asking about. Its tentacles seem to just extend from the hard part with a really thin white band rather than the other that has a decent amount of white tissue. Thanks for the help.

It's probably because the left side is older or is happier with the flow. As long as it's fluffing up and seems happy, I wouldn't worry about it.

For best advice let's hear what your parameters are at (salinity, mag, cal, nitrate, phosphate)

Along with how long the tank has been cycled, water flow, lights, etc.. your picture doesn't give much to go off of

Have had tank for about 2 months and like 1 and a half weeks. Salinity 1.4, 0 phosphate, cal 425, mag 1400, nitrate about 14-17. Putting lighting and flow below (1 wavemaker)

The torch is also somewhat new. In tank for about a week and 5 days now

Salinity 1.4? You should be shooting for 1.024 - 1.026, what are you using to messure salinity?

I'm hoping this is your true salinity

Yea my bad typed quick. 1.024 😅. 1.4 wld be a tad high

Great glad it was a typo lol But in your picture the torch looks like a happy? Are you still seeing any issues?

Also I would look at getting a hanna test for phosphate, I doubt it is 0 or you would be seeing some issues. But if it is 0 you would need to start dosing some

Ok I’m gonna get one. I have the salifert one and it doesn’t really show up. I’ll try it again today. And also get a Hanna tester.

I’m new to keeping the torches and saw if the white tissue was receding something was probably wrong. I just saw like little to no white tissue on the coral part facing the wavemaker on the right and a mediocre on the left (maybe bout half an inch more or less) . It does look like it’s kinda splitting two 2 heads. Just wanna make sure it wasn’t me. It is also kinda new to the tank. Could that be it?
