Looking for a little help with an ID. I found this in the sand behind my rockwork today and placed it on a plug. I suspect it was a hitchhiker on the live rock, hidden in a spot I couldn't see, and something must have knocked it loose. The picture isn’t the best, but it’s extremely bright red on the outside rim just like the center. Any insight would be appreciated!

Does it feel like it an LPS, skeletal structure. Or soft like a mushroom?
Do you know where the live rock was from?
Whatever it is it's very cool looking.

Definitely has some skeletal structure. Live rock was from Gulf Live Rock and has been in the tank for over a year and I have never noticed this piece before. Had to be tucked away somewhere. I have acans, blastos, and favia in my tank, and this really doesn't resemble any of them. I've tried using google lens to identify but can't find anything. The closest I found was rose coral, but I'm unsure due to it's perfect circular shape, whereas the pictures of rose coral are more irregular shaped.

Sure looks like this Rose Coral, and location is right.

Yes, that's one of the posts i found using google lens. That was the closest i found to this, it was just the shape that threw me off.

Doesn't look like anything I've seen. Possibly some West-Atlantic hitchhiker?
