Hey all, we have this guy in the tank but not sure if he is in the Acan or Favia family? Almost a pastel green with red center, has brown ish hairs that remind me of algea..

Thanks!

Thanks, I've been leaning Acan but the long "feeder" type things I haven't seen before. Will get a better pic later when the glass is clean..

Acan enchinata? (Not sure)

I did have an Enchinata frag in the tank prior, he didn't make it unfortunately, but this guy is different.. Here's a pic from a few weeks ago I found. Note the algea-looking "feeders" (or feelers? I don't know lol) at the top. That has to be distinctive? Different than my other Acans :thinking-face:

Thanks! Is that a guess, or pretty sure? That would put it in the favia family?

The closest dipsastraea I can find on the web is Australian, but it looks a bit different..

Basically a few years ago, they reclassified a bunch of corals. Favia became an atlantic only genus, and most of the species from the indian and pacific oceans got moved to the genus dipsastraea, with a few others being moved to favites. There are also genera/species corals that could look like favia/dipsastraea such as astrea, the favites species that were formerly phymastrea, and goniastrea stelligera. I am pretty sure it is a dipsastraea, but it could be some other genus that looks like dipsastraea.

Awesome, thank you for the details!
