So hard to tell with those pics. Maybe an encruster of some sort that seems to be receding pretty bad.

It's been in for about 24 hours. Not sure if it's receding due to shock from the dip or if it's bad water quality. I matched the LFS parameters almost spot on except my pH was 8.0 and theirs 8.2

I'll pull the rock out tomorrow for better pics

It looks like it lives in an environment that has been stripped of life and it is barely surviving?
Possibly. New tank but I was told it would be fine as long as cycle was complete. Tank is two weeks in but rock is 3 weeks.

Salinity 35 PPT
pH 8.0
Dkh 8.1
Nitrates 5
Calc 420
Mag 1320

Ammonia and nitrites 0

Possible birdnest or stylo. Tank is very white. What test kits are you using ?
A little premature for coral IMO

Thank you for the information. I guess I got the salesman pitch instead of what was better for the coral.

Test kit is red sea for the ammonia, pH, nitrites, nitrates.

Hanna for the Dkh, calcium.

Salifert for magnesium

I appreciate everyone's advice on here. This forum has been invaluable for my learning the last few months.

When I replied yesterday about bad advice I was referring to the LFS saying it should be fine. Just wanted to clarify I wasn't talking about you guys!

I'm anxiously being patient for my tank to be established like yours lol
