Got this from Caribean, is it photosynthetic? What does it need to thrive? Flow, current, lighting, food, etc?

Bought it from a guy living in Key West, I supposed he collected it locally and sold them online.
If he got them local to key west that's technically not the Caribbean.

I wasn't trying to sound like a smart butt. It's definitely a cool specimen. I was just dropping some useless knowledge

Ahh I see, so technically it should be Florida? I'm new to States so please educate me.

Key west is in the Florida straights border by the Atlantic on the east and the gulf of Mexico to the west.

Caribbean sea is more south. I think (may be wrong) that the Bahamas including Bimini are also not technically in the caribbean.

Google map can give you a visual.

Good news is that harvesting in Florida is illegal unless you have an agriculture license.

The harvest of octocoral like gorgonia is restricted. So I'd just get back with the seller and he should be able to tell you what specific species it is. He should have documentation from the harvest.

Its is photosynthetic gorgonian. Very hardy and feed phyto occasionally
