I have a purple mushroom looking coral in my tank. I called it a mushroom but now I am wondering about what it is. Today I placed some coral frenzy into the tank and I saw the purple worm like extensions in the picture below. I am posting a picuture of the purple coral in the tank and a magnified picture of the worms like extentions. What exactly is this coral? Thanks.

Looks like a brittle star fish and a purple montipora cap

Where did the britttle starfish come from? Was is hooked up with the coral when I purchased it?
It usually comes in with a piece of live rock. Maybe it came with the coral if it was also attached to a rock.

Agree with brittle star for the arm. That looks like a photosynthetic sponge to me though, instead of a coral. Pretty cool addition either way.
