Genuinely curious how vendors determine the price of their corals. There are so many variables to account for:

- Original cost of the colony from wholesale
- Allocated overhead cost of electricity, water, etc.
- Growth rate
- Risk of death while shipping
- Shipping charges to the customer that don’t cover actual costs (frequency, number of these orders, etc. allocated almost as overhead)
- Popularity

Just seems like an absolute nightmare to track. Would love to hear some of your (vendor) thoughts!

I'd like to know this too. My guess is it's mostly hype, basic business is you can charge more for something with more demand. Some people complain about it but I respect it, it keeps the industry going.

I think as @Oscaror said, its mostly about demand of the piece. If pricing was dependent on growth rate, risk of death in shipping, shipping charges, and overhead, all acros would be close to the same price. Appearance also plays a big factor. Why would something like a JF Homewrecker be priced the same as some no named random acro? My guess would also be that the vendors just adjust the price as they see what people are willing to pay for the piece.

LFS my area must be making a killing, three brothers, one owns new Maserati, other just bought Tesla car, third into nice vintage cars. Been in business 30+ years. And not best area Inland Empire. But most I think double wholesale price on corals, dry goods they go by Internet prices.
