I'm very happy to see all the fish made it. Everything looks great! Any thoughts on your first coral? Try to stick with ones that are more tolerant of water fluctuations while the tank balances itself out.

How's the RO system? No more hauling buckets across town!
Love it! What a great investment. I have a freshwater tank also which I can use the water for. How long can I keep the water in buckets before I use it?

It'll store for quite a while in food safe buckets (they'll say HPDE on the bottom). You'll want to aerate it before using it if it's been sitting for a long time though.

Being a brand new tank, what parameters should I be most cautious about?

The rodi is probably too pure for freshwater use.. Depends on the species of fish. It should be fine to top off evaporation, but some species like African cichlids need hard water.
Others can tolerate softer water and
Using the ro water would be fine (don't run it through the di resin).
I'd check on that before implementing use in the freshwater tanks.
Admittedly it's been a long time since I had a freshwater tank..

Good to know. Thanks!

Took the plunge and bought two corals yesterday. They opend up as soon as I put them in the tank and look great today ! Now I just have to keep it this way. I have to get some new Zooplex. My other bottle has expired with all my problems. In any case, I am very happy!

Speaking of light, I have mine set at blue on at 10:00am @ 95%, off @ 10:00pm. White on at noon @ 65% and off at 5:30pm. Then moonlight for 2hrs. It seems to be working out. Any changes I should make or am I close?

Coarls are doing well today! Sported this yesterday. I think its some kind of tube worm which came on my live rock, but not sure. It has something orange inside the tip but nothing has protruded.Any insight?

One more for now and I'll see how ut goes. This is like the one I started with on page one of my post. Better result! I'll do a water change next weekend and check some parameters.

Looking good! Much better than the first one...

As for the clams and the lighting, I'd let your corals tell you if your lights are doing their job. They'll open less if it's too much, and they'll reach out if it's not enough. The clams will get used to whatever you have it set to.

Everything still looks great! It looks to me my polyps are stretching a bit. (Rather long stems) Should I increase my white light intensity from 65%70% or should I increase the length of time it's on?
