I’ll start by saying I can’t seem to find a section on here that really goes over this, if I missed it please point me there.
I’m curious what the current “best” or most agreed upon qt procedure for coral is. Obviously nothings fail safe, and obviously a large portion of you just toss coral in and either never have problems or it’s been years since you have. I have zero interest in that method.
What, in your opinion, is the best method to qt corals, starting with dipping/treatment. I’m thinking g bring corals into a qt system, observe and acclimate for a couple days. Then dip, either in a coral dip or peroxide solution, and then go back to observing for multiple weeks.
Is there any benefit to dipping weekly in qt? Is there any benefit to having a multi tank process to move into new tanks after dipping?
I got lucky for 20 years nearly, never really had catastrophes anyways… and I’ve now lost almost every coral in 2 days due to BJD. I also found that it is not only LPS/Euphyllia that are affected. I lost every sps as well. Parameters have never been better than the last 6 months, the only thing that changed was adding a couple hammers about a week prior. Going forward I will no longer rely on an initial dip and toss em in.
