Coral vs algae

Cleaning tank tonight, esp film algae on the glass will corals benefit from the tiny particulates that are then released into the water column ?? Curious is all and no idea what thread to use

Sure different varieties of corals are filter feeders. I just don't believe that they consume film algae from the glass per se. If corals in your tank consumed film algae then we probably would not need to clean our glass very often because it would be consumed in the water column before adhering to the glass. I do think corals consume phytoplankton though and I dose it daily.

Tis a quandary, I only thought as I was cleaning the particles were a similar size to reef roids, so more consumable is all ..hmmmmm

Corals may well use it if the algae coming off is a suitable particle size for them.
That's what I kind of thought, after all they take reef roids which has no particular taste ,attractant to them ,if you have a bit when your cleaning the glass have a nosey at the particles given off ..I'm going to go with a yes for it ha ha
