Updates to CoralBay.UK
Hi all,
A quick update on CoralBay.UK, the UK reefing site I run. It’s changed a fair bit recently, so here’s what’s available now.
Free to list, no commission
Community Corals (corals) and Marine Marketplace (equipment, livestock, accessories and full breakdowns) are free to list, with no fees and no commission. You don’t need a shop or storefront, so hobbyists can just list what they have.
Optional buyer protection
If you’d like more security on a sale, eligible listings can use CoralBay Protection:
Auctions
Eligible Community Corals and Marketplace listings can now be sold by auction, with private maximum bidding. You enter the most you’re prepared to pay, and the system only bids as much as it needs to, up to that limit. Winners pay online with protection included.
Vendors and the shop
There’s also a CoralBay shop and a section for approved Vendors, where you pay through CoralBay checkout and the Vendor dispatches the goods.
Finding UK reef shops
Everything is explained here: https://coralbay.uk/how-coralbay-uk-works/
It’s a growing community, so if you have feedback or ideas, I’d love to hear them. Thanks for reading!

Optional buyer protection
If you’d like more security on a sale, eligible listings can use CoralBay Protection:
- The buyer pays online through CoralBay (via Stripe), and the seller only dispatches or hands over once payment is verified.
- Both sides can follow the sale in their account, and there’s a set process for reporting a problem.
- The buyer fee is 50p + 4% of the item price. Postage isn’t included in the percentage, and sellers pay nothing extra.
- It’s a defined platform process, not insurance or escrow, so please read the terms before relying on it.
