Have you guys had much success scraping off coralline algae from an established tank into a newer tank to get it going? I've got a well established tank with coralline algae growing all over the return plastic etc, will scraping it off into my other tank help establish it?

Thank you for your time.

It should establish you coralline in your new tank but like every thing in this hobby it takes time and perfect water parameters

Sure it can, get a small cup and scrape some in but don't expose it to air, has to stay wet. Air is not good for coraline.

As others have said, snail shell works well. My tanks share similar equipment so for my new tank, I took the water return nozzle and MP10 wet side (encrusted with coralline) from the established tank and placed in the new tank.
