Coralline algae

When does coralline algae go from a benefit to a nuisance, or does it? I have had my tank up almost a year and I have a large amount of coralline algae. All over my back glass (I don’t clean my back glass), all over my sump suction and return pipes, all over my wave makers.
Im just curious if anybody takes action against too much coralline spread or if you just let it go as much as it wants as long as it doesn’t effect your display.
Can it cause issues and the your equipment etc

It can grow on powerheads and pumps, slowing down flow. It also increases the dosing you need to do. That's about all I can think about in terms of negatives. Urchins eat it and vinegar works well but only when things are taken out of the tank. I personally let it do its thing and run my powerheads in vinegar+ro water when flow gets too low.

I ocassinally will remove pumps and skimmer and soak in citric acid...comes off pretty fast. Otherwise i let it be

Twice I've had to remove coraline from the overflow intake, it grows and lowers the diameter which slows the water intake causing the display take water level to climb. You have to be *very* careful when doing this...
