I don't know _all_ about coralline, not even close . . . but it's an algae, it uses calcium to build its form, so it favors similar conditions to coral. Coralline comes in a lot of colors, and can be introduced into your tank with liverock or snails / hermit crabs that carry it on their shell. Also, doesn't need a ton of light.
