Hi everyone, just wondering, I have a lot of recent purple coralline algae grow on a few different places in my tank but for some reason none on my live rock? Is this normal?

Can be. I have noticed over the years it usually starts in a couple small places before exploding all over including your glass.

I've found it seems to like to start on plastics (return outlets, flow pumps), any exposed instant glue from placing frags, and snails. A hungry urchin will keep coralline from showing up on rocks.

Ha tbh you seem to have the nail on the head, it's on my frag plugs and snails!! Will it soon start on the rock then? Thanks for your reply

Not sure why it loves snails and artificial surfaces so much but if it's growing well there I think it's typically inevitable. For me the rock has always been the last to join the party but eventually it can't resist.
