Why is this fish worth $700? It's pretty and cute, but a 2.5" fish for $700. Do any of you own one?

I've had a few over the years. They cost that much because they can only be collected in deep waters with special dive training and equipment or a submersible. The cost of which combined with the risk is reflected in the cost of the fish.

Because most are collected around 200 feet, and many hitting the trade today come out of Curacao and are collected via deep sea submersible.

Yep, they live in very deep waters, so the price tag shows how hard they are to collect. Plus many people want them.

Just not for me I guess, I don't wanna pay that for a 2" fish. Maybe I would but a black tang for similar price.
