Could 0 TDS be a false reading?

I’m having a major Dino problem and I’m wondering if my RODI unit is letting in some Dino benefited elements? My filters are definitely nearing its end of life but I can still get TDS to read 0 so I figured it was ok.

That seems very unlikely. A proper reef tank typically has everything dinos need, except unoccupied real estate, and new dead rock or otherwise bare rock can provide that.

Check the manufacturer recommended methyod for calibrating your TDS meter.
You may have to call them or email for answer on best way to verify your meter is still working properly.

As of the dino. I went through coolia for 6 months just got over it about 1 month ago. I did everything at first. Throwing the kitchen sink and my wallet at it.
My nutrents had tanked to 0 and never noticed.
I had a few japanese stink bugs fall into the tank. They filled the water with amoina.

As the ammoina had risen so did the bactirea. And dinos. The Bacteria consumed all of the available food for them thus forcing my tank to 0, no3 and po4.


Check if your tank has any traces of amoina.
Check your tanks N03 and P04 values.
I find P04 to be the biggest problem.

You need to remove the dinos and put them on a slide for a microscope so you can identify the species you are dealing with. They all have different methyods to remove them.

You can check Fish Of Hex for id or Meleves reef. There are also some here that may help.
