Could coralline scrapings melt frogspawn heads?

I have had on going problems with my frogspawn for the past week or so. I started a thread here then about my frogspawn releasing tips. It was stable until I scraped some coralling algae into the water column. Could this coralline dust melted my frogspawn heads? In a matter of 48 hours it went from a beautiful 9 head piece with 12 new growths on the bottom of it to 9 heads of brown sludge. Any one have any ideas?

I believe just about any small puncture or damage to the coral tissue on frogspawn can lead to brown jelly disease. It is possible that while scraping your tank you damaged the tissue in some manner. How is the flow in your tank? Low flow can allow the bacteria to accumulate and thrive on the coral and allows it to quickly spread to other heads. I would frag the dead sections or any other sections that are showing signs of BJD.
